On the afternoon of October 12, 2024, the Markham Civic Centre in Greater Toronto hosted Forum & Performance of Multicultural Integration and Unite Against Racism & Discrimination. Organized by the Canada-China Entrepreneurs Association and co-hosted by 33 community groups and businesses, the event aimed to promote cultural integration and combat racial discrimination, fostering a more inclusive and harmonious society.

 The opening ceremony began promptly at 2:00 PM. The hosts introduced several dignitaries and esteemed guests, including the Honorary Chair of the “Unity in Diversity: Moving Forward Together” event, MP Paul Chiang, MP Jean Yip, Richmond Hill Deputy Mayor Godwin Chan, Co-Chair of the event and York Region Councillor Alan Ho, Markham Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci, and Scarborough Councillor Jamaal Myers’ Assistant Emily. Following the Canadian national anthem, the event officially commenced.

FortuneLink was invited to participate in the roundtable discussions at the forum, represented by CEO Philip Yu and featured artist Michelle Winters. These discussions, which are the highlight of the event, include a diverse group of guests from the business sector, community organizations, academia, law enforcement, and the media. The sessions focus on addressing racial discrimination through cultural integration and social responsibility.

The forum featured a series of impactful speeches, starting with a keynote address by Ms. Huiyun Liu, President of the Canada-China Entrepreneurs Association. The Honorary Chair of the event, MP Paul Chiang, delivered a stirring address, followed by MP Jean Yip, whose brief but powerful speech resonated deeply with attendees. Richmond Hill Deputy Mayor Godwin Chan, along with the co-chair of the event, York Region Councillor Alan Ho, and Markham Councillor Amanda Yeung Collucci, played pivotal roles in organizing and supporting the event, ensuring its success.

A key highlight of the forum was the series of three roundtable discussions. These sessions brought together a diverse group of participants from various sectors, including business, community organizations, academia, law enforcement, and media, to address pressing issues surrounding racial discrimination. The focus was on fostering cultural integration and enhancing social responsibility.

In the concluding segment of the event, Ms. Huiyun Liu, along with Councillor Alan Ho, presented awards to individuals and organizations that had made significant contributions to promoting multiculturalism and combating racial discrimination. Among those recognized, FortuneLink was honored with the Community Contribution Award for its outstanding commitment to these critical causes.
